When an activating event happens, we pay attention to the things confirming our beliefs, biases, and opinions, especially if we feel threatened or uneasy. Unfortunately, by not paying attention to all the information, we are left confused, uncomfortable which is dangerous, especially if the consequences of our actions or interpretation of the event holds a lot of weight. When we are unsure of our thoughts, we can question ourselves by coming in the opposite energy such as looking for evidence, is it facts or feelings or is the thought adopted? We don’t do this to disprove or persuade ourselves, rather we use the questions discussed to help us gain objectivity and greater understanding of the situation.
